About Slashspace
Slashspace is a canvas-first AI interface for hands-on, long-context work on hard problems. It’s built for researchers, learners, strategists and writers who want to think with AI, not hand their thinking over to it.
Most AI apps are racing toward an away-from-keyboard experience: ask, wait, accept. That’s fine for grunt work. Real discovery work, like research, learning, strategy and making high-quality work that doesn’t read like AI, needs your hands on it. You think in branches, iterations and variations. A canvas holds that shape, and Slashspace is built around it.
What Slashspace does
Branch conversations on a canvas
Every chat is a node on an infinite canvas. Fork any conversation to chase a tangent and the main thread stays clean. You end up with a map of your thinking instead of a scroll you have to dig through.
Compare iterations and variations
Send the same question to different models, or try a prompt several ways, and lay the answers side by side. Keep the version that works and build on it.
Wire in your sources
Add PDFs, documents, web pages, YouTube videos, images and notes to the canvas, then connect exactly the ones each chat should read. The AI works from your material instead of guessing.
Hold long context across a project
A canvas keeps a whole project in view for weeks. Come back to it, pick up any branch, and every chat still has the context you connected to it.
Use the models you already pay for
Pick a model per chat: Slashspace’s hosted models, your own API keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and more, your Claude or ChatGPT subscription through Claude Code and Codex, or local models with Ollama.
Hand the busywork to the Orchestrator
The Canvas Orchestrator creates, connects and updates nodes and delegates batches of work to subagents. You approve each switch into Orchestrator mode and stay in charge of the thinking.
What makes Slashspace different
Slashspace is built for human-mind-centric work. We don’t compete with linear chat apps like ChatGPT: they’re good for grunt work. We compete with the tools people use to think on a canvas. Competitor details below were checked on each company’s own website in September 2026.
Hands on, not away from keyboard
Most AI products aim to take you out of the loop. Slashspace keeps you in it: you decide what each chat sees, where a line of thought branches, and which answer survives. The AI works beside you instead of in your place.
Branching is the core, not an add-on
In Slashspace any conversation can fork on the canvas. Arky and Poppy AI are canvas-based too, but neither documents branching a conversation, and Heptabase only began placing AI chats on its whiteboards in July 2026.
Local models and the subscriptions you have
Run local models through Ollama, or use the Claude or ChatGPT subscription you already pay for. Heptabase, Anara, Arky and Poppy AI offer neither on their own sites. Of the four, only Heptabase supports your own API keys.
A flat price, not a meter on your thinking
Slashspace is $89 a year, or $249 once for lifetime. Chats on your own keys, subscriptions and local models cost nothing extra, and hosted models draw from a prepaid wallet only if you want them. Poppy AI starts at $399 a year with metered credits, Anara meters AI use on plans from $120 to $1,200 a year, and Arky bills its AI separately in monthly credits.
Local-first, on the computer you own
Your canvases, chats and files are saved in a folder on your own computer, on macOS, Windows or Linux. Poppy AI runs only in the browser, and Anara’s desktop app is Mac only.

The team behind Slashspace
Praneeth Pike, founder
Praneeth Pike is an engineer, a designer and a perpetually curious scientist, and built Slashspace for people who think in branches, sketches and experiments.
How it started
Slashspace started in 2024 as Rabbitholes AI. It was renamed Slashspace as the product’s vision expanded, and to give it a distinctive name it can own.
A small team, run remotely
Slashspace is built by its founder and operated by Lokus LLC, a company registered in New York that works fully remotely. There are no account managers in between: your message reaches the people who build the product.

Frequently asked questions
Who makes Slashspace?
Slashspace is made by its founder, Praneeth Pike, and operated by Lokus LLC. The company is registered in New York and works remotely.
Is Slashspace the same as Rabbitholes AI?
Yes. Rabbitholes AI is Slashspace’s previous name. Lifetime deals, data and bring-your-own-key access carried over to Slashspace.
Is Slashspace a ChatGPT alternative?
Not exactly. Linear chat apps like ChatGPT are good for quick questions and grunt work, and you can keep using their models inside Slashspace. Slashspace is for the long, branching work that doesn’t fit in a single thread.
How is Slashspace different from Heptabase?
Heptabase is a visual note-taking tool built around whiteboards and cards, with AI alongside. Slashspace is built around the AI conversations themselves: they branch on the canvas, and they can run on local models or your existing Claude or ChatGPT subscription.
Where is my work stored?
On your computer. Slashspace is local-first and saves your canvases, conversations and files in a folder you own. Documents and web pages you add are processed on Slashspace’s servers so the AI can read them.
How do I contact Slashspace?
Email support@slashspace.ai or join the Discord community. We reply within a day.
