Free AI mind maps that run in your browser
No account needed. Your ideas stay on your device.
The first map downloads an AI model (731 MB) to this browser. You can build by hand while it finishes, and after that it runs on your device, free.

A free mind map maker with AI on your own device
Type a topic and an AI model on your own computer suggests the branches. Keep the ideas you like, add your own, and export the map as an image, a PDF or a Markdown outline. The AI costs nothing to run because it is on your device, not our servers. We email you a link to the export, and that signs you up for our newsletter.
How it works
Start with a topic
Type what you are mapping, or start blank. The first time, your browser downloads the AI model, and you can build by hand while it finishes.
Grow it with plus buttons
Press plus on any branch to add a blank one and get AI ideas beside it. Click an idea to keep it. The map can grow left to right or top to bottom.
Export it
Get an image for slides and docs, a PDF for printing and sharing, or a Markdown outline for your notes, with a download link sent to your inbox.
Questions
Is this mind map maker really free?
Yes. It costs no money and needs no account. We email you a link to your export, and that signs you up for our newsletter: tips about AI, product updates, and sometimes marketing emails. You can unsubscribe at any time, and you keep your file either way.
Does my mind map leave my device?
Only when you export it. Your map is saved in your browser and the AI runs on your device, so we do not receive what you write while you work. When you export, we keep the file for 7 days so the download link in your email works, then delete it. Your browser downloads the AI model from Hugging Face and its runtime from jsDelivr. We record how the page is used with session replay, and the text of your map is replaced with placeholder characters before a replay leaves your browser.
Which browsers and devices does the AI work on?
Chrome or Edge on a computer, with WebGPU, at least 8 GB of memory and room for the model. So far we have only tested it on a Mac, so results on Windows laptops and basic graphics chips may vary. On phones, tablets, Safari and Firefox you can still build a map by hand.
How big is the AI download?
731 MB, once. That takes about 4 minutes at 25 Mbit/s. It then stays in your browser, and you can remove it from the AI menu at any time.
Which AI model does it use?
Liquid AI's LFM2.5 1.2B Instruct, a small open model. It runs in your browser on WebGPU through wllama, a browser build of llama.cpp.
Can I make a mind map without the AI?
Yes. Every device can build a map by hand: add branches with the plus buttons, type your own text, collapse branches, and undo.
How do I export my mind map?
Press Export, choose Image (PNG), PDF or Markdown, and enter your email address. We email you a download link that works for 7 days.
What happens to my map if I close the tab?
It is saved in this browser, so it is there when you come back. The tool keeps one map at a time, and clearing your browser data removes it, so export a copy of anything you want to keep.
When a branch needs real thinking
Slashspace is the full canvas: AI chats, documents and images side by side, where any idea can branch into its own conversation. Use your Claude or ChatGPT plan, your own API keys, or local models.
