Build your canvas
Cloud Storage
An optional paid plan that keeps the canvases you choose the same on every computer you sign in on, and lets you edit them offline.
Long projects rarely stay on one computer. Cloud Storage keeps the canvases you choose the same on every computer you sign in on, so you can start on a laptop, carry on at a desktop, and keep working on either with no connection.
It's optional. Without it, every canvas stays on the computer where you made it, and the app works the same.
Note: Slashspace stores the canvases you move to the cloud, and they aren't end-to-end encrypted. See Privacy before you move anything sensitive.
Plans and limits
Cloud Storage is a monthly plan you add to your Slashspace license. The hosted wallet doesn't pay for it: the wallet is optional too, and covers only hosted models and hosted AI tools.
| Plan | Price | Synced canvases | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloud Storage Starter | $5 a month | 1,000 | 5 GB |
| Cloud Storage Pro | $15 a month | 10,000 | 50 GB |
AppSumo lifetime deals include an allowance, with nothing to pay monthly:
| AppSumo tier | Synced canvases | Storage |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | None | 1 GB |
| Tier 2 | 1,000 | 10 GB |
| Tier 3 | 10,000 | 100 GB |
Tier 1 can't sync a canvas on its own, because it includes no synced canvases. To sync one, add a Cloud Storage plan.
Your plan's limits are checked when a canvas starts syncing. Past them, the move is refused with "You have reached the most canvases your plan can sync" or "Your synced canvases have used all of your plan's storage". Canvases already syncing keep syncing, even past a limit.
Each image and document counts against your storage when it uploads, and it's checked first. A file that doesn't fit stays on the computer that has it, and the rest of the canvas still moves. Moving a canvas back to your device gives its storage back.
Some limits apply on every plan:
| Limit | What happens |
|---|---|
| 95 MB per image or document file | The file stays on the computer that has it, and the move names it. The node shows without it elsewhere. |
| 100 MB per canvas when it first moves, not counting its files | The canvas stays on this computer, with "The canvas could not be uploaded". |
| About 8 MB per node or chat message | When a canvas first moves, one larger item keeps the whole canvas on this computer, with "a record is too large". After that, a change that goes past the limit is undone, with "A change was too large to sync and was undone here." |
| 2,000 cloud folders | New cloud folders are refused. |
You can use synced canvases on as many computers as your plan has device slots.
Buy a plan
Plans are sold in the desktop app, not on the website, and need a Slashspace license first.
- Choose Move to cloud on any canvas. See Move a canvas to the cloud.
- In Sync your canvases to every device, pick a plan and click Continue to checkout. If you don't have a license yet, the dialog offers one first, then the plans.
- Pay in your browser. The canvas you chose moves to the cloud once the purchase lands.
Plans bill monthly, and you can cancel any time. Open billing from Settings > Plans with Manage subscription, or Manage Billing on other plans. Cloud Storage is billed separately from your Slashspace license, so cancelling one doesn't cancel the other. The app doesn't offer a switch between Starter and Pro yet: to change plans, email support@slashspace.ai.
Move a canvas to the cloud
While you're signed in, the sidebar has two tabs:
- Device lists canvases only on this computer.
- Cloud lists canvases on every computer you sign in on.
To move a canvas, click its ⋮ menu and choose Move to cloud, or drag it onto the Cloud tab. A canvas or folder you create while Cloud is open starts there. The canvas header shows a cloud icon on a synced canvas.
The canvas goes up with its images and documents, and you don't need to open it first. A message shows how many files have gone so far.
If a file can't upload, the canvas still moves and the message says so, for example "“Trip” moved, 12 of 14 files. 2 could not upload." It names each file and says why. Where trying again can help, Retry uploads those files and opens the canvas.
If you quit partway, the canvas stays in Device. Choose Move to cloud again, and it uploads only what didn't make it.
On your other computers
Sign in with the same account and open Cloud. New canvases appear within about 30 seconds, or as soon as the window gains focus. A canvas that isn't on this computer yet shows a download icon. Click it to bring the canvas here.
With the canvas open on both computers, edits show on the other one within a couple of seconds. A note you have open for editing there picks up the new text when you click out of it. A computer that doesn't have the canvas open catches up the next time you open it.
A synced canvas has the same name on every computer. If a canvas on this computer already has that name, yours gets a number added, and Slashspace tells you.
Move a canvas back
Move to device in the ⋮ menu, or dragging onto Device, stops syncing the canvas everywhere. Slashspace deletes the canvas's contents and files from its storage, and keeps a record of its name, folder, size and dates. If Slashspace can't reach its storage, the canvas keeps syncing and you can try again. Each computer that already has the canvas keeps its own copy as it last saw it, and those copies no longer sync with each other. A copy updates only while the canvas is open, and files it never downloaded are gone with the cloud copy. So first open the canvas on the computer you want to keep it on, and let it catch up.
The same canvas can't move back to the cloud for two hours. Until then you'll see "This canvas stopped syncing less than two hours ago. Try again later."
Delete a synced canvas
Delete removes only this computer's copy. The canvas stays in the cloud and on your other computers, and you can bring it back from Cloud. To remove it from the cloud, use Move to device.
Cloud folders
Folders sync too, so a project keeps its shape on every computer.
- Click New Folder while Cloud is open to make a cloud folder. It stays on every computer even while empty.
- Choose Move to cloud from a folder's ⋮ menu, or drag it onto Cloud, to move the canvases in it, each with its files.
- Renaming or moving a cloud folder follows on your other computers.
- Move to device on a folder moves the canvases that are on this computer. Any that aren't stay in the cloud, so open them here and move the folder again.
- A cloud folder can be deleted only once no canvases are in it.
What syncs
- Every node and what it holds: chats and their tool results, notes, captured web pages, post transcripts and Scratch pad strokes.
- Connections, layout, canvas settings, and the canvas's name and folder.
- The image or document file a node shows, up to 95 MB, if it's inside your home folder. Files arriving from another computer are saved in
SlashspaceOS/files/synced. Each computer reads a synced document for itself, on the device. - Images a chat makes in Image mode, and images a note, chat message or tool result shows from this computer, on the same terms.
- The text of a text, code or CSV file you dropped onto the canvas, wherever the file sits, because it's saved in the node.
- Anything inside a chat, note or tool result, including a key, password or file path that appears there.
These stay on the computer:
- Files over 95 MB or outside your home folder, and files that don't fit in your storage.
- Files in private places, such as hidden folders and your Mac's
Libraryfolder, and settings files such as.env, unless you put the file on a canvas yourself. - A file an agent only read while it worked. The file stays here, though its path syncs if it appears in the chat.
- API keys you save in Settings, personas, prompts, skills, connectors and app settings, which you set up on each computer.
- The agent workspace folder a chat or canvas points at.
The canvas's folder on your computer stays where it is and keeps being written, so Claude Code, Codex and your other tools can still read it.
Edit offline
Keep working when you lose your connection. A synced canvas shows a cloud with an exclamation mark, and your edits are kept on this computer, including across a restart. They go out on their own once you reconnect.
Only canvases already on this computer can be edited offline. Reconnect before you sign out: signing out doesn't warn you about edits that haven't gone out yet.
If the same thing changed on another computer in the meantime, Caught up with your other devices says what happened:
| What changed | Result |
|---|---|
| The text of a node, on both computers | The version already in the cloud stays. Yours becomes a new node beside it, titled Conflicted copy, or its own title followed by "(conflicted copy)". |
| The name of a node, on both computers | The name already in the cloud stays. |
| The name of a canvas, on both computers | Your offline rename goes through when you reconnect. |
| A node you edited was deleted on the other computer | It stays deleted, and your edits to it are dropped. |
| Position, size or settings, on both computers | Your offline change wins. |
| Chat messages you sent offline | They land after the messages already in the chat. |
| A node you added to a group that was deleted on the other computer | It moves to the top level of the canvas. |
Chats on two computers
If one computer is generating a reply, a message you send from another waits, and "Your other device is still replying in this chat" appears. It goes in after that reply, so no turn is lost.
Desktop only
Synced canvases open only in the Slashspace desktop app. There's no way to view them on the web or a phone yet, and only you can open them: they can't be shared with other people.
If your plan lapses
When a Cloud Storage plan ends, syncing stops. Cloud shows "Not syncing until you renew" with a Renew button, and each synced canvas says "Not syncing, plan lapsed" in its header.
- Your canvases keep working on each computer that has them, chat included. Edits and new files stay on that computer until you renew.
- You can still open them on your computers, including bringing one to a computer that doesn't have it. You see it as it was last synced.
- You can't move more canvases to the cloud, or rename or move the ones there.
- Move to device still works, and deletes the cloud copy, as above.
Renewing syncs everything your computers held. If two of them changed the same note, both versions stay, with one marked Conflicted copy.
This is about the Cloud Storage plan. A yearly Slashspace subscription is separate: when one ends, Slashspace opens to a plan screen, so you can't reach Move to device until you subscribe again. The copies on your computer stay either way.
Privacy
Moving a canvas to the cloud changes where it lives, so it's worth knowing what that means:
- Slashspace stores it. The canvas and its files are kept on Slashspace's servers, which run on Cloudflare.
- It isn't end-to-end encrypted. The service reads each edit to check it before storing it, so Slashspace's servers can read what a synced canvas holds.
- Sensitive work can stay on the device. Keep it in the Device list, and it isn't uploaded for Cloud Storage.
Privacy and your data has the details, including how to delete your data.
