Post node
Put a YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X or LinkedIn video on your canvas and turn it into a transcript your chats can read and quote.
Lectures, talks and interviews are some of the richest sources you can learn from, but a video is hard to search and harder to quote. A Post node puts the video on your canvas and fetches its transcript, so every chat connected to it works from what was actually said.
Supported links
| Platform | Links that work |
|---|---|
| YouTube | Videos, Shorts, live streams and youtu.be links |
| TikTok | Video links and vm.tiktok.com short links |
| Posts, Reels and IGTV | |
Videos, Watch, Reels, stories and fb.watch links | |
| X | Post links on x.com or twitter.com |
Posts, videos and lnkd.in links |
Share links work as copied. Reddit isn't supported: a pasted Reddit link becomes a Web node.
Add a Post node
The quickest way: copy a video link, click an empty spot on the canvas and paste (⌘V, or Ctrl+V on Windows and Linux). Slashspace recognizes the platform and creates a Post node under your pointer.
To start from an empty node:
- Press
Vor click Post node in the toolbar, then click the canvas. You can also right-click the canvas and choose Post Node. - Paste a link into the "Paste a video post URL" field. If you type it instead, press
Enter.
For other ways to add nodes, see Adding nodes.
What you get
- A player. YouTube, Facebook, X and LinkedIn videos show a thumbnail with title and length; click to play inside the node. Instagram and TikTok use the platform's own embed. The link icon under the player opens the original post in your browser.
- A transcript. The status under the player shows "Loading transcript..." and then Ready. Click Ready to read the full transcript and copy quotes.
Videos with captions usually arrive within a minute. When there are no captions, Slashspace generates a transcript from the audio, which can take several minutes for a long video. Keep working in the meantime.
The link is sent to Slashspace's servers, which fetch the captions or a generated transcript from third-party transcription services. See Privacy and your data.
Transcripts are included with every plan, including the trial, and don't draw from your hosted wallet. Without an active plan, the node shows Failed with "Active desktop access is required to fetch media transcripts." See Plans and billing.
Use it as context
Connect the Post node to a chat node, or type @ in a chat's composer and pick it. The chat receives the node's title and the full transcript. Connections and context explains how context flows.
For example, add the lecture videos from a course, connect them all to one chat and ask for a study guide of the key ideas, noting which lecture each comes from. Rename each node after its lecture first (click the title, which starts as "YouTube Post"), because the chat sees node titles, not video titles. Then fork the chat to dig into one lecture without cluttering the guide.
Tip: Wait for Ready before you ask. Until then, a connected chat sees only the node's title.
When a transcript fails
The status changes to Failed. Click it to see the reason, then click Retry. Common causes:
- Nothing to transcribe: the post has no video (a text or photo post), or no one speaks in it.
- The post isn't public: private or deleted posts can't be fetched.
- A temporary service problem: wait a minute and retry.
