This Credit & Billing Policy ("Policy") governs the use of credits, billing, and payment-related features within RabbitHoles AI ("Software"), operated by Lokus LLC. This Policy supplements our general Terms of Use.
1. Credit System Overview
RabbitHoles AI uses a credit-based system to meter usage of AI features. Credits are denominated in U.S. dollars and stored as integer cents internally for precision.
1.1 Types of Credits
Your account has two distinct credit pools:
- Included Credits: A monthly allowance that resets at the start of each billing cycle. These credits are provided as part of your subscription plan.
- Wallet Credits: Persistent credits that do not expire and carry over indefinitely. These include signup grants and purchased top-ups.
1.2 Deduction Order
When you use AI features, credits are always deducted in the following order:
- Included Credits are consumed first
- Wallet Credits are consumed only after included credits are exhausted
This ensures your purchased credits are preserved as long as possible.
2. Included Credits
2.1 Monthly Reset
Included credits reset to your plan's base amount at the start of each billing cycle. The reset amount varies by billing interval:
- Monthly: Full plan amount
- Weekly: Approximately 1/4 of the monthly amount
- Yearly: 12× the monthly amount (prorated across the year)
2.2 No Rollover
Unused included credits do not roll over to the next billing period. Any remaining included credits at the end of a billing cycle are forfeited.
2.3 Plan Changes
When upgrading or downgrading plans:
- Your included credit balance may be adjusted immediately to reflect the new plan
- The new included amount takes effect at the next billing cycle reset
3. Wallet Credits
3.1 Signup Grants
New accounts may receive a one-time promotional credit grant ("Signup Grant") added to the wallet upon registration. Signup grants:
- Are promotional in nature and provided at our discretion
- Are non-transferable between accounts or teams
- Do not expire and remain in your wallet indefinitely
- Cannot be redeemed for cash or refunded
3.2 Purchased Credits (Top-Ups)
Users on eligible plans may purchase additional credits ("Top-Ups") to add to their wallet balance.
3.2.1 No Expiration
Purchased credits do not expire. Once added to your wallet, they remain available until used.
3.2.2 Non-Refundable
Purchased credits are non-refundable except as required by applicable law. All top-up purchases are final.
3.2.3 Non-Transferable
Purchased credits cannot be transferred between accounts, teams, or users.
3.2.4 Pricing
Top-up pricing is displayed at the time of purchase. We reserve the right to change top-up pricing at any time; however, changes will not affect credits already purchased.
4. Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)
4.1 BYOK Overview
Certain plans allow you to connect your own API keys from supported AI providers ("BYOK"). When BYOK is enabled and a valid API key is configured:
- AI usage is billed directly to your provider account
- Your RabbitHoles credits are not consumed for those requests
4.2 BYOK Availability
BYOK functionality is available only on plans that explicitly include this feature. Check your plan details for BYOK eligibility.
4.3 Your Responsibility
When using BYOK, you are solely responsible for:
- Maintaining valid API keys and sufficient provider account balances
- Complying with the terms of service of each AI provider
- All charges incurred on your provider accounts
- Securing your API keys and preventing unauthorized use
4.4 No BYOK Warranty
We make no guarantees regarding:
- Compatibility with specific provider features or models
- Uninterrupted availability of BYOK functionality
- Provider pricing, rate limits, or service terms
If your API key is invalid, expired, or rate-limited, the system may fall back to standard credit-based billing.
5. Usage Metering
5.1 Reservation Model
For AI chat and generation features, we use a reservation-based billing model:
- Reservation: Before processing a request, we reserve an estimated amount from your available credits
- Processing: Your request is processed by the AI provider
- Settlement: After completion, we calculate the actual cost and adjust your balance accordingly, releasing any unused reservation
5.2 Cost Calculation
Usage costs are determined by:
- Actual cost reported by the AI provider (when available)
- Token-based pricing calculation (as fallback)
Costs are converted to integer cents using standard rounding.
5.3 Failed Requests
If a request fails or is cancelled before completion, any reserved credits are released back to your balance.
6. Refunds
6.1 Subscription Refunds
Subscription refunds are governed by our general Terms of Use and Refund Policy.
6.2 Credit Refunds
- Included Credits: Not refundable under any circumstances
- Signup Grants: Not refundable (promotional credits)
- Purchased Credits: Not refundable except as required by applicable law
6.3 Account Termination
Upon account termination:
- All remaining credits (included, granted, and purchased) are forfeited
- No refunds or payouts will be issued for unused credits
7. Balance Display
Your billing dashboard displays:
- Total Available Balance: Combined credits available for immediate use
- Included Balance: Remaining included credits for the current billing cycle
- Wallet Balance: Persistent credits (grants + purchases)
- Pending Reservations: Credits currently reserved for in-progress requests
8. Plan Limits
Each plan may include limits on:
- Monthly included credit amount
- Maximum team members
- Available AI models
- Request rate limits
- BYOK availability
- Top-up eligibility
Exceeding plan limits may result in service restrictions until the next billing cycle or until you upgrade your plan.
9. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
